Journey's end Taken in my parents' garden, this was the old 1930's ladies bicycle that was in the conservatory when they bought the house in the mid-1970's. Since my mother was brought up just over the road, she can remember seeing the bike in daily use by the then owner, a Mrs Webb, from whom they bought the house. It has long since gone beyond the stage of viable restoration, so this photograph will have to do as its epitaph. This was my first attempt at sepia toning, since I felt that it harmonised with the subject matter better than a straight black and white print. |
